“Should plastic use be heavily regulated to protect ocean life?”
Debate competition on Theme “World Ocean Day” on 22nd June, 2024 from 12:20 PM to 1 PM for the students. The event was organized by Mrs.Trusha Sankhe.
The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The session was the opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding about the plastic among students.
To begin with, each participant spoke their mind on the rationale for, the execution of and the potential future effects of plastic. Unsurprisingly, this led to a wide spectrum of contrasting views – from being it is waste is also found across the country in lakes, rivers, in the air, and on land, harming both wildlife and people. Vast majority of plastics lost to the natural environment are persistent contaminants, because they do not readily biodegrade. Additionally, plastic debris can kill or injure wild-life that ingest or become entangled in it. We are learning more about the impacts of micro plastics—small plastic particles that travel through air, water, and the food web—on ecosystems and human health. If the amount of plastic pollution continues to increase, these negative consequences will worsen.
Points presented were accepted by the spectators with cheers and claps. Some of the points even made us think about the facts. There was so much talent in the room. Arguments were made and roved. The competition was so interesting with the exchange of student’s perspective by equally stating the merits and demerits of plastic regulated to protect ocean life.
