Report on the “Physics in Everyday Life”

ActivityEvent Title: Physics in Everyday Life

Organized by: St. John Junior College

Conducted by: Ms. Komal Mandavkar

Date: September 13th, 2025.

  • Introduction

On September 13th, 2025, St. John Junior College hosted a highly successful and engaging event titled “Physics in Everyday Life.” The activity was designed to move beyond traditional textbook learning and encourage students to explore and demonstrate fundamental physics principles as they apply to daily phenomena. The primary objective was to deepen appreciation and understanding of physics by highlighting its relevance in the world around us.

  • Activity Overview and Execution

The event format, aptly named “Demonstrate It. Explain It.,” challenged students to select a real-world concept and present it to an audience. Participants, working either individually or in groups of three, were required to:Show a live demonstration or video of the chosen physics principle in action.Engage the audience by asking them to identify the physics behind the demonstration.Provide a clear and concise explanation of the underlying physics principle. The presentations covered a diverse range of topics.  This structure not only encouraged creative thinking and practical application but also enhanced public speaking and collaborative skills among the students

  • Outcomes and Impact

The event was a resounding success, marked by enthusiastic participation and a high quality of presentations. The demonstrations were both inventive and educational, effectively illustrating how seemingly simple occurrences are governed by complex physical laws. By engaging the audience directly, students were able to create an interactive learning environment that was both fun and memorable.

  • Winners and Recognition

The judges were highly impressed by the creativity and thoroughness of all participants. After careful deliberation, the following students were recognized for their outstanding presentations:

First Place: Ummehaanee Patel, Raunak Gharat, Krishna Singh .

Second Place: Raunak Gharat, Arjunsingh Rajput .

Third Place: Vedika Upadhyay, Priya Yadav & Arjunsingh Rajput, Krishna Singh .

  • Conclusion

The “Physics in Everyday Life” activity successfully achieved its goal of making physics more accessible and exciting. The event served as a powerful reminder that physics is not an abstract subject, but rather an essential tool for understanding the universe and everything within it. We extend our congratulations to all the winners and a heartfelt thank you to every student who participated and made this event a great success.
